It came from below!

I've been blessed cursed with an over active imagination in life. I often find myself wondering what will happen, and where I will go during a zombie apocalypse, or how I might be eaten by some sort of sea serpent/kraken when I am out surfing. I guess I am just fascinated by the myths and lore behind each creature. If I ever get suckered off a sail boat on some sort of voyage by a hoard of sexy sea sirens singing seductive sea songs, please write on my tomb stone that I put up a valiant fight, but succumbed to the maidens calls.

Damn the Torpedos, Full Steam Ahead!

The past week or so I have been in the process of shooting and editing a video resume for the folks at GoPro. Let me just say its consuming my life, and I LOVE IT! The last time that I made a movie was back in college, and I almost won the Regis University film fest for a second year in a row. That first place gift certificate to Mongolian BBQ would have been mine, but there were some crooked judges...kind of like the Olympics a few years ago when the Froggies screwed the Canadian couple out of the figure skating gold.

This past weekend was also Woodies on the Wharf here in town, and these are a few shots I took with my brothers Digital SLR that I stole. Switching from film to digital has been interesting for me.  Its been quite the learning curve since I have no idea how to use the camera. Kind of like giving an abacus to anybody younger than 30 nowadays. You know it works, but have no instructions. 

Mornings of June Gloom

A couple years ago I went down to Costa Rica on a surf trip with a friend of mine. We were completely surfed out after a few days shredding some beach break and decided to rent some quads and rip around the peninsula close to where we were staying in Mal Pais. We ended up swimming to a deserted island off the tiny town of Cabuya about 300-400 yards. This was one of the most eerie places I have ever been to, since all the residents are in permanent repose. The island has roughly 50 graves, and a tiny little outdoor chapel for funerals. 

Once we swam back to the mainland (we later found out that you can walk to this island at a low tide), we cruised down the coast to Montezuma to fuel up on some fish tacos and Pilsens, and ended up running into my friend's friend that he grew up with back in Maryland (talk about a crazy small world!). He was sitting on a curb in front of a business, burning the logo into a big board with a magnifying glass. I thought I'd try my hand at the same sort thing, and I have to say it is zen like, patient process to use the suns energy to create a piece. And, you need sunscreen. Lots of sunscreen.
